Behold, the flower that makes tea tree oil possible:

Melaleuca alternifolia

A short definition, Tea Tree Oil is a natural antiseptic, germicide, antibacterial and fungicide!

Tea Tree Oil is obtained from the Australian plant Maleluca Alternifolia and is made up of over 100 different components of which the main one that has the most antibacterial properties is terpinen-4-ol.

There is a lot of confusion about tea tree oil because there exist many tea plants but only the Australian one is the internatioally accepted one to have all these properties. There are tea tree oils from New Zealand as well as many other countries but only the one obtained from Maleluca Alternifolia is of any good for medicinal uses. It is said that in Australia this plant has been used since a very long time by the first Australian people and it has always worked effectivly as medicine to many problems. However, it was not until recently that this was accepted in todays world. Now the tea tree oil is obtained by steam distillation of the plant.

Even though many people today accept that tea tree oil has many benefits it still cannot be registered as a official medicine because it has way too many uses to be a specific medicine.
